Yoga

YOGA improves the brain-body connection and increases balance, coordination, deep core strength and flexibility. Yoga means “union” of the body, mind and spirit. The practice of yoga for athletes focuses on proper alignment and breathwork to become present, grounded and connected to ourselves.

Mobility

MOBILITY increases strength at the end range of joint control, improves muscle firing patterns and prevents injuries. Lack of mobility in one area/joint leads to another, and we look at asymmetries in the body so that we can correct imbalances and create better energy transfer. Athletes with mobility training will be able to create more power in the movements required for their sport.

Breathwork

BREATHWORK for performance enhances rib mobility and creates optimal breathing patterns. The diaphragm (our breathing muscle) is one of the most important spine stabilizers and being able to breathe properly leads to better mobility in every area of the body.

Mindfulness

MINDFULNESS is the ability to be present and aware of where we are and what we’re doing. This includes not overly reacting or becoming overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Athletes who practice mindfulness improve their performance, reduce stress and anxiety and have better focus and decision making.

Ali Grzyb

Owner of Far Hills Yoga & Sculpt

“Optimal performance requires much more than just going hard in the weight room. A powerful athlete needs mobility training, movement on rest days, proper breathwork and mental freedom to relax and let go of pressure. I have learned so much through the years, and I want to share it with every single athlete and team that I can.”

Alison Grzyb is our Far Hills Yoga & Sculpt founder and owner and is a 650 hour certified yoga teacher with studies in pilates, mindfulness and breathwork. Ali has an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and a Master’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University and draws upon her in-depth studies of the mind and body to teach professional, college, high school and youth athletes.

Ali has always had a love for sports and growing up she knew she wanted her life to revolve around helping athletes. She used her Kinesiology degree to become a Physical and Health Education teacher where she began coaching student athletes and realized the need for more injury prevention and recovery education. After moving to NJ, Ali entered the east coast fitness world working with professional athletes. She works privately with athletes in the NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB and several college, high school and youth athletes and teams. Ali has also been the yoga coach for the NJ Devils and Rutgers football teams for several years along with several other local programs. Ali deeply values education and continues to take trainings and network with physical therapists, strength coaches and athletic trainers to learn more about caring for athletes. From the moment you meet Ali, you will experience her passion and knowledge!
